We kindly ask you to not smoke inside Mimosa House. You may smoke in the garden. Please dispose of all cigarette butts in the trash can.

Quiet Time

Please respect our neighbors by keeping the noise down after 10 p.m.

Your Comfort and Safety

Your safety is of the utmost importance to us and we want to make sure that you enjoy every moment of your vacation!

Stay safe in the sun

Slip on a swim shirt, Slop on some sunscreen, Slap on a hat! Don’t forget to protect the tops of your feet and behind your knees (and anywhere that doesn’t see the sun much), re-apply often! Where are your sunglasses? Remember to wear them.

Bugs

The property periodically receives pest control treatment, but bugs are a natural part of life in the tropics, and we can’t eliminate them completely without harming our environment.

Mosquitoes, no-see-ums, sand flies, and other insects are present, particularly around sunrise and sunset. Use repellent or wear long clothing to minimise the chances of being bitten. Keep in mind that bites can feel more uncomfortable at night, when your body and temperature are relaxed. If the bites become red and itchy, use liquid Benadryl for relief.

Living in the environment

Look and appreciate. Some flowers are delicate, and some insects will sting. Our best advice is to enjoy but don’t touch.

Our environment is a delicate ecosystem. Please take only pictures and leave only footprints. We ask you not to pick the flowers in the grounds, but rather enjoy them and then leave them for others to appreciate.

Please take adequate care when walking around the property as there may be tripping or slipping hazards, wooden steps, especially when wet.

Environmentally conscious

TradeWinds is exceptionally proud of its commitment to the environment, and we continuously strive for a greener planet. This takes effort, interest and commitment.

As our valued members and guests, we know you will assist us, the environment, and our planet, by joining our hands in this worthwhile effort.

As far as possible, we use disposable, biodegradable plastics and paper, natural cleaning products and continuously endeavor to incorporate many other eco-friendly products.

To maintain our philosophy, and in accordance with our environmental policies and procedures, your towels will not be changed during the week, unless specifically requested.

Towels are usually changed on Tuesday, but our House-keeping team services the rooms daily, and if towels are on the floor we change them. You can request fresh towels at any time by notifying the crew or our House-keeping team.

Tours and general

Bequia Heritage Museum

Entry cost is covered by TradeWinds, however donations are always welcomed as the museum is run as an NPO. These donations will help to maintain the property and facilities.

Firefly Estate Tour

Entry cost is covered by TradeWinds, however a donation for the staff conducting the tours is always welcomed.

Bequia Animal Protection Alliance

Working continuously to support and care for the stray pups around the island. They are always in need of donations to spay and neuter the homeless, as well as dogs with owners. This is a NPO which also fosters and cares for the animals and homes them both locally and internationally.

Stray Dogs

Unfortunately, there are still many stray pups on the island who befriend guests and tourists. We encourage you not to feed the dogs or encourage them onto the property. We also advise guests (especially children) to wash their hands after touching any of the pups. We are all animal lovers here in Bequia, however this problem is much better tackled by the above organization.

Souvenirs

There’s a great choice of souvenirs and local crafts to be found in the harbor in Port Elizabeth, but our guests can also look forward to a very special weekly visit from the legendary Willy, who has been bringing his hand-crafted jewelery pieces to show to our guests for many years now, moving around Admiralty Bay on his tiny boat named “No Complain”. He does amazing carvings on whales teeth and bones which are still harvested here to support the local community.
